The Household of God Ephesians 2:19

Keep the Faith I

Reading: 2Timothy 1:13

Introduction
In all life forms there is a Birth, Growth, Maturity

1. Birth:
The difficulty of many is how to reconcile their new birth and their physical maturity.
Nicodemus had that problem.
John 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old?
It follows that Christian birth is not the same as physical Birth. We should encourage ourselves to grow in the spirit; to grow in the Christian birth.
1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
The word of God is the means by which we grow in the spirit.
Notice that there was no indication of volume of literature but intensity of desire.
Lesson: If a Christian forgets how he came to be. It won't be long and such a Christian will not have anything to look up to but the World.
This happened to Adam. After eating the fruit the only appropriate covering "in his eyes" was leaves.
Lesson
My Prayer is that we will continually remember our heritage and seek insight from above Colossians 3:1-3.

2. Spiritual Reference
Source of the problem comes when a man sees physical maturity to be the same as spiritual maturity.
One key indicator is that both in the Bible and in the world Kings are made according to lineage and not maturity. Revelations 1:5-6
Lesson: You are a King once you accept Jesus. Not by how long you are in Church.
For example Pilate did not understand that Jesus was a King. Matthew 27:11, John 18:33.
But Jesus explained!
John. 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
My personal experience is that many Christians have pushed this thought -that we belong to a different kingdom- into the background.
Lesson.
We will do well to bring our spiritual heritage to our normal life.

3. Are we Growing
Hebrews 5:12-14
From the foregoing we are instructed to be Teachers and the Oracles of God, As Oracles we are the authentic source of Divine direction.
Milk and Strong meat
Milk is ready made food for an infant. To keep it alive. To assist in growth until they are able to feed themselves. Strong meat however provides nutrients and strengthens the one feeding in other ways.
Eg "thou shall not steal" Exodus 20:15... Compare to Ephesians 4:28.

Exercise and discernment
For many children Jerusalem is in the skies. However as a child matures he realizes that Jerusalem is on Earth.
A Christian should move from the life of "a balance of good works and bad works to pursue righteousness and love for the Lord". There is a higher life!

4. Maturity
I dare say maturity in Christianity is to be like Jesus. However it is something that can only be approached Hebrews 12:2-3
A mature Christian is one that is "looking unto Jesus to finish
his Faith"
The Goal of Christianity cannot be Earthy Philippians 3:13-14, otherwise it will not be a Divine work. John 14:1-6
Maturity in Christianity is a direction (on Earth) and not a place. Heaven is the place!

Who do you believe your are? 1 Corinthians 3:3
What are your aspirations (What is your destination)?
Are you aware you are in a Kingdom. Where is that Kingdom? Luke 17:21, Colossians 1:27
How are you living in this Kingdom and the Kingdom of God in this life? Matthew 22:21

You can live in Heaven on Earth I challenge you to do it. May the Lord help us as we pursue righteousness on Earth. Amen
As you answer these questions you will realize you direction.

Prayer: Father my prayer is that I will grow into Jesus. Amen
