The Household of God Ephesians 2:19
Living a True Christian Life Philippians 3:7-14 1. Introduction A true Christian is one who has come to the point of understanding and conviction where The most important aspiration in his life is that He will use everything available to him. His understanding, education, wealth, position, health and all he has to facilitate the desires of the Lord for his life, moment by moment. Our Christian life then, is not what we achieve but how much of the scripture we embrace in our lives. 2. Earthy and Heavenly 1 Corinthians 15:48 What anyone achieves by themselves is human and though this may truly be needed to sustain their lives on this Earth, it remains an earthly activity. Doctors, Teachers, Scientist are going very well but all their activities are earthy. In much there same way what you embrace from the Scripture is Divine. These are the things that will sustain our Divine life and get us to the ultimate goal is our spiritual objective. Galatians 5:22-24 Lesson: Do all that it's in your power to embrace the scripture. 11 Corinthians 10:31. That is the Divine life expected of every Christian. 3. The Difficulty The Difficulty of many well meaning children of God is that God wants us to do good. Therefore if one does a good deed it should please God. This is fine as far as that good deed is a thing that is *approved* also in the Spirit. I am sure you will ask why? Some "good" deeds are not necessarily approved in the Spirit. It is only in the spirit that deeds can be properly approved! This is the reason why it is important to know what the Lord wants Romans 12:2 rather than what is right. Example: Saul 1 Samuel 15:22-24 in this situation we learn that that fact that we are usually convinced something is right does not make it right. In this particular instance obeying the Lord was right and "doing what is right" was wrong! 2. Jesus and Martha at the tomb of Lazarus. John 11:39-40 Jesus said "take away the stone" but Martha said "Lord by this time he stinketh" Martha was right but but in the Spirit she was frustrating God's Glory. Lesson: Every child of God must understand the language of the Kingdom. 4. The right Mentality of a Christian John 14:10 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Question: Who did Jesus say was doing the things he does? The Christian Life is not lived by a man but it is God who lives through men. ( Get this mentality if you are to be a good Christian). You carry God's "software" . You are important in this world if you carry God's instructions! If this is your mentality you will then live the true Christian life. For example: Your prayer will be, Father thank you for the life of Christ in me (Colossians 1:27 a Christian Prayer) instead of Oh God have mercy on me ( Psalm 51:1, a Psalmist Prayer) Get to know that you understand what Jesus has done! 5. Christianity is not natural life. As we are expected to do everything by ourselves in this life or with some help from others, we bring that mentality our new life in Christ. Lesson In this earthly life we do things we have learnt from the Earth, In Christianity we do what we have learnt from the Word of God. The Bible Teaches us by these examples. a. Paul, Colossians 1:29 it is the Holy Spirit at work in his life. b. Philippians 2:13 the will and the doing that comes from there Holy Spirit is what a Christian lives with c. Zachariah 4:6, Some of the most important things we desire cannot be assessed by might and power but only by the Spirit of God. 6. The Human attempt Adam Adam made a bold effort to undo the effects of the fall in the Garden. Every effort by a man who by himself tries to achieve a spiritual need is like Adam. The leaf covered his nakedness but only in the physical. It did not have any effect at all on the real issue - nakedness in the Spirit! Let us take an example from the scripture Philippians 3:9 Earthly achievements which make us function favourably on Earth are unimportant in the new life in Christ Jesus. Ends and Means It is important to distinguish 1. a means to and end and 2. the end itself. Most of the world systems have no end in their plans spiritually speaking ( no spiritual ending everything ends here). For most systems in earth the end is A house, So much Money, a qualification, a scientific discovery, etc. For a Christian this is just a means!! In fact we are only prepared by our experiences on Earth for a better life. Galatians 4:19 Example: We have a means like learning two times (2 x 1, 2 x 2 etc ) in your primary education. Good and as important as it is for children and a adults to know an adult who does not know it cannot even be considered for any important job. 7. Conclusion I would like read this scripture 2 Timothy 2:15 The most important need for any Christian is to be completely consumed by the word of God. If we don't do that you can get into error. Mathew 22:29 Prayer: Father lead me into a deeper understanding of your word. Thank you in Jesus Name
