Working in God's Business Reading: 1 Corinthians 3:9 We are fellow labourers with the Lord. Introduction There are some verses in the New Testament that clearly shows that we should approach the Word of God With full reverence. Romans 5:20-6:1 There should be an exercise of responsibility in receiving the word of God In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus tells us to teach Teaching The teaching of any subject targets three or more levels of receiving instruction. 1. Choices The basic Objective to provide information. Teaching with the objective of providing information is to advice the student on how to make choices. Matthew 28:20 Providing information helps the student or the hearer to make choices. A road sign that says " No through road" is only giving one options, there is no way the sign can influence you. In Providing information this way, Teaching becomes a guide. Read Romans 3:20 The Law of God allows a man to make choices. 2. Needs Another way is to embrace the teaching but only because it fills a personal need. Usually unrelated to the Enterprise objective. This is in the form of Money, salary, wages etc. Most qualifications are used in this manner. 1 Timothy 5:18 One may receive a qualification for a particular job. And become a teacher, nurse or a policeman. Wrong results An interesting thing is that despite the time money and resources put in, there is no guarantee that the qualifications will result in a good doctor soldier or nurse. Why is it so? Because most people are there to collect salaries. This the way most of the world operates. Having a qualification does not guarantee good performance. 3. Vocation The other level of receiving instruction is to qualify for a job to, so as to have a legitimate experience and presence in the job so that expectations for that job will be realised. This third level is the closest to the Christian Life. What is the reason why you are a Christian? A Christian who is not fulfilling the expectations of the coming of Jesus Christ on Earth creates many difficulties. 4 Thy Will be Done If one is a Christian for any reason other than fulfilling the purpose of Christ one will have difficulties. The difficulties will come from the conflict of interest. Seeking money instead of souls, Demanding obedience instead of compassion etc. 5. Daily Bread Give us this day out daily Bread Every Christian should pray to receive - the tools - the mindset and the ability of a Christian. Remember the employer has responsibility for the employee. God will provide the tools if we ask him. Acts 1:8, John 14:14 6. The Higher life Any Christian who does not get to the level of this higher life has cut himself from the larger experience of Christian Life. Helper John 14:16 Jesus said a Christian shall have a helper, Comforter for ever. A teacher, a doctor and a police man only remains so as far as the employer provides the facilities for the job. You cannot be a Christian without the Holy Spirit. The Spirit that reveals the Spirit of God in a man 2 Corinthians 2:13 Only the Employer knows the objective for the Enterprise Jeremiah 29:11, 33:3. Be ready to respond to the new life. This is a new way of life in the business of the Lord and we should be prepared to receive instruction for the job. Read John 14:26 Conclusion John 15:10 Receive the Word of the Lord, keep His commands and your life will be steered into eternal life.
