The Household of God Ephesians 2:19
Excercise your Authority
Introduction
Last week we spoke about authority and
authority is what makes Christianity legitimate.
Mark 16:15-17
Every Christian should know and live his life with this mind set. Authority is
required for all things and will function to the Glory of God.
Authority is effected by Conviction or by Coersion. Each one is under
authority of conviction and have others under him by conviction or coersion.
1. Source of Authority
All Authority is from God.
If we define Authority as the freedom to decide or a right to act without
hindrance. Then only God has Authority. Romans 13:1
Have reverence for God. Have Faith in God.
2. Authority is given and is required to complete an assignment
Jesus was given the authority to forgive sins Matthew 9:6-8
To drive out spirits Mark 6:7.
Jesus gave the seventy-two disciples Authority to trample on snakes and
scorpions Luke 10:19.
Whatever you will achieve and complete on this Earth will come by the Authority
you have been given. 1 Corinthians 4:7
A man achieves more we with his Authority than with hard work. Use your
Authority as a child of God.
-
Excercise your authority over your day Job 38:12
-
Excercise your authority over your children Proverbs 22:6
-
Excercise your authority over your relations 1 Corinthians 7:14.
3. Failure to use your authority creates issues in your life and the lives of
others
The Sons of Eli. 1Samuel 2:12-36
If you don't use Authority it submit to Authority things are destroyed.
4. Refusing Authority Isaiah 14:12-16. Comes from the Enemy
It is a fundamental sin
To refuse to be under authority and
To allow another who should be under authority to be free.
Luke 20:10-15.
Authorise sickness to its place. Bring your body under subjection 1 Corinthians
9:27
5. Accept Authority and Use Authority
Authority is Part of God's design of creation
Without authority there will be confusion.
The Sea has been restricted Proverbs 8:29
The life span of man has been determined. Genesis 6:3, Psalm 90:10
Even the scope of which a man should live is determined Deuteronomy 18:10
James 4:7 Submit to God and resist the devil;
Then all things will work together for you. Romans 8:28
6. Authority is when one is given delegated Authority
in the form of a warrant,
license, or authorization to perform. Jesus was asked by whose authorization he
taught. Matthew 21:23. He was granted authority for his ministry from God the
Father John 10:18.
The reason you are a Christian is to complete your Divine assignment.
We are delegated from God to perform authoritatively Matthew 28:19-20
7. Authority has Jurisdictions
Sometimes Authority denotes the sphere in which authority is exercised. God has
established spheres of authority in the world, such as civil government. Jesus
was handed over to the official power of the governor Luke 20:20. When Pilate
learned that Jesus was under Herod's jurisdiction or authority, the governor
sent him to Herod Luke 23:7.
Rulers and kings have their spheres of influence Romans 13:1
Satan Colossians 1:13,
but Christ has been placed above all realms of authority Ephesians 1:20-23.
