Walk in the Spirit Sunday, July 29, 2018

Reading: Galatians 5:25If we live in the spirit let us also walk in the spirit

1. Introduction
God is a Spirit they that Worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth John 4:24 There can be no walk with the Lord if it is only n the flesh.

2. Understanding Spiritual things John 6:26
Jesus shows his seekers that it is important to have a means to really understand the import of anything God does. He goes further to indicate that when one eats and is filled it is only for this Earth it will perish
At the same time there is a food provision by God which will last forever. The custodian of that food is Jesus himself
This miracle was supposed to open their eyes to the providence of God's food in the person of Jesus Christ but they did not see.


3. Believing the most important action of man
They ask what they would do to do the works of the Lord. John 6:27-29
Jesus said BELIEVE! In the one God has sent. Notice belief is not physical. To believe essentially means what you believe cannot be seen, touched etc.
But
They request to believe but until they see (physical) first, then they can believe. When it is seen belief is destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:18

4. Unbelief man's great difficulty
• Thomas had the same difficulty John 20:25
• Paul suggest that the way with God is belief 2 Corinthians 5:7
• Jesus suggest the it is in the spirit John 4:24
• When Jesus asked the disciples who he was they spoke of things seen or heard until Peter spoke from belief. Matthew 16:16
Resolve to believe God it doesn't matter what you know. It is safe!


5. To believe God is to honor him
To believe is to honor God at his word. That is the way with God. He cannot lie! (Think of how upsurd it is to seek proof from God)
It is the safest because the Lord is truth but anything untrue works in other places.
It is safe to listen to God!

6. Even power becomes your friend
When one attempts to do what God has said in Faith (believe) without first seeing
The power that works in him works in you and for you John 7:17
The power of God becomes available to us
Nicodemus John 3:1-7
Just as Jesus said, Nicodemus also said that the man who does miraculous things must have God's support. Jesus agrees but also said there should be a rebirth.
Nicodemus answered how is it possible. He knows only the physical.
Jesus explained there is the spiritual and it is available to every man.

The whole objective of being a Christian is to operate in belief - in the spiritual.
God our Good Father makes us become naturally believers by birth so we can walk in Faith.


7. Jesus reveals that better things await us John 3:11-17
Jesus declares that he is a witness of what he is preaching
So he has the benefit of seeing heavenly things and earthly things.
He came down from Heaven and no man has ascended to Heaven so he has the privilege of telling us.

Freedom from earthly limitations
The limitation of man to this Earth only is broken. Freedom from earthly limitations is shown to man.
Eternal life is the preserve of Heaven and God is providing it to us. By it God saves the world
(From it's limitations)

8. The Real Life John 6:61-63
Real life is the life that can relate to God and be active in living things.
This life which is in Jesus, is given by Jesus, and lived by Jesus.

Live in the Spirit.
