The Household of God Ephesians 2:19
The Law and Grace Sunday, April 22, 2018
Reading: Matthew 21:28-32
1. Introduction
There are quite a number of people who believe that justice and righteousness
can be sourced from the law. This is true in human terms. What is this human
terms of Justice and righteousness?
The fact that even that is hardly achievable by many is an indication of how far
man had fallen.
There is a problem with this approach because the law works outside the human
system both physically.
2. The weakness of the Law is the flesh Romans 8:2
Law depends on man's willingness to accept the demands and to give himself to
it. When a men are not willing to give themselves to the law the performance of
the law and even the preaching of it is of no value to this man.
However for a willing person the law is a glorious good. A reminder of good
options from the Lord and a reminder of Gods demands. Notice the importance of
willingness.
3. But the Law is spiritual. Romans 7:14
The Law is to have effect on man's Spirit and it does. Romans 7:7, Romans 7:12.
But the expected result is high jacked by sin. Romans 7:8-13. Sin is Older than
the Law and as the bible says, The Law is only a reminder of Sin Romans 3:20
4. There is a need to remove this obstacle Romans 7:22-24
It is clear that Man is in Captivity. Notice and yet his captor is not physical!
We need one who will deliver from this Spiritual Monster. The Removal cost God
Acts 20:28, His only son - Jesus Christ. John 3:16.
Deliverance cannot be secured anywhere Acts 4:12. It is only in this light that
one sees. The value (the one and only price) that could remove the obstacle of
sin Romans 7:25
5. The Law repeats itself Hebrews 10:1-4
It is ineffective against the root of Sin. Religions that have sprang up largely
dependent on a man subjecting himself to a code of conduct. It is obvious they
will forever fight this battle.
6. Mans inability
There is sin that is caused by breaking the law, 1John 3:4 usually caused by sin
itself but there is another Sin that is a result of our identification with Adam
that can only be solved by God.
Children take after their parents in many things. But for the son of a man to
take after God, the effective force is cannot be earthy. Thank you father for
the Coming of Jesus!
Galatians 2:19-20. If our methods are futile and cannot get to the root of the
problem then we need someone who can.
7. Grace – True Salvation
The salvation that comes to us in Christ Jesus is not by earthy means. It
addresses the root of the problem and makes man free. Romans 8:1-2. The
availability of this freedom means we may acquit ourselves and yet not by early
means. This suggests that we receive it by grace – Gods Provision.
8. Receiving Grace
A man has to accept to Grace, and since it is not an earthly process. The only
choice one has is to accept the process (which is not earthy and cannot be
understood naturally) and Hope in the Lord.
This is done with trust and faith; Hebrews 11:5-6, to a God who can be trusted
to do us Good. Jeremiah 29:11. The refusal to accept this Grace means one would
use one’s own methods. Romans 10:1-4, John 3:14-16, John 5:24. God is not
accountable if you fail.
True Salvation has been offered - RECEIVE IT!
Grace is not imposed. One must believe What God has offered. Remember salvation
is free.
Prayer:
Father, open my eyes that I may not miss any offer you have given. Thank you
Lord in Jesus Name for my Salvation. Amen
