Has your switch been turned on? Sunday, March 04, 2018
Reading: John 6:65-69

1. Introduction
There is a marvel at how some people completely turn on a new leaf after they encounter Jesus. Many of his disciples started leaving because many believed that they can serve God without being called. - wrong, and that they will be rewarded by what they have achieved - wrong again.

Note: We serve God only when he has called us and are rewarded only when we do what he has shown us to do.

2. God Owns Salvation and eternal Life John 5:26
I concede that you have your will and that you are responsible for your actions yes, but salvation is not yoursAnd eternal life is not yours! 1John 5:20

The owner of it has to give them to you (1), John 5:40, and you must receive them(2) John 1:12, to own them. (Two Actions).
The first and most important action is to receive salvation. Then you can serve God. And God has been so kind to give us salvation in Christ Jesus. John 3:16 Thank you Lord!

3. You may mean well and be absolutely convinced but you will be wrong
Paul Acts 9 and 26
• Acts 26:9-12 when someone is so determined it must come from his heart (as we have studied) and Paul was convinced!
• Acts 26:13 Jesus described them as kicking against pricks.
    o One achieves nothing John 6:63
    o and one hurts ones self. Watch what you believe in.
Note: It is always a good thing to evaluate your deep convictions in the light of scripture. One may be wrong as Paul was though convinced.
Note: In this manner also are Idolaters, prostitutes, liars and the unbelieving convinced be patient with them!

4. May your switch be turned on by Jesus
Acts 9:17-20 Ananias was given the mandate to turn the switch of Paul on. He said "receive the Holy Ghost!" Have you received the Holy Ghost?
This is when black changes to White, a murderer changes to a life giver.

Paul " straightway", no long Sunday school, no long stay in church, the switch had been turned on!
• May the Lord help you keep your switch on
• Paul immediately started preaching Christ.


5. The making of a minister Acts 26:16. Jesus has the switch Acts 26:17-18
When Jesus calls you... (Puts on your Switch)
• He provides deliverance in the physical
• ability in the spiritual
    o To reverse what the devil has done
    o from darkness to light
    o deliver from the power of Satan to God
• And rewards your effort
    o Men will receive forgiveness of sins
    o a place among the saints - those who are sanctified by faith in Jesus

Prayer: Father I pay that by your Spirit I may keep my light on, in Jesus’ Name. Thank you Jesus.
